Within five years, Facebook will be mostly video, the social network CEO said Thursday evening in response to questions from users. He also indicated that he is not afraid that Facebook is no longer ‘cool’ and he answered the question of why the mobile Messenger app is a mandatory download.

During a public question and answer session on Thursday evening, Mark Zuckerberg was asked whether the large amount of photos that users upload is not burdening the infrastructure too much. To that he replied that the real challenge is to improve the infrastructure to allow for adding more rich media such as video in feeds. This would be necessary because within a few years mainly video will be posted.

When asked whether Facebook is no longer seen as ‘cool’, the CEO replied that it was never his intention to make the social network cool. In his own words, he wanted to develop a service that ‘just works’. Finally, Zuckerberg got a lot of questions about mandating the separate download of the mobile Messenger. Facebook thought it could make a better and faster messaging app if it was pulled away from the default Facebook app. “We believe this will deliver a better user experience,” he said, according to PCWorld.
