ZTE Axon 40 Ultra with camera behind the screen costs 829 euros in the Benelux
ZTE will release its Axon 40 Ultra smartphone in the Benelux on June 21. The Android device has a 6.8 “amoled screen and the front camera is processed behind it. There are three 64-megapixel cameras on the back.
ZTE’s Axon 20 5G was the first smartphone in 2020 with a camera behind the screen. The successor to that device received an improved front camera and with the Axon 40 Ultra, the technology has improved again, the manufacturer claims. The camera behind the screen of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra has a 16-megapixel resolution and can combine pixels to achieve better results. The Chinese manufacturer also mentions features such as a ‘selfie algorithm’ and Smart Make-up filter.
The 6.8-inch AMOLED screen of the phone has curved edges, a refresh rate of 120Hz, a resolution of 2480×1116 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1500cd/m². On the back of the device are three 64-megapixel cameras, two of which with a Sony IMX787 sensor. The cameras have focal lengths of 16mm, 35mm and 91mm in full-frame equivalent. The telephoto camera uses a periscopic lens and an unspecified sensor.
ZTE already released the Axon 40 Ultra in China last month. There, the device has a 5000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. The international version has to make do with 65W fast charging. Other specifications such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 soc, the UFS 3.1 storage and the Lpddr5 memory are the same.
The Axon 40 Ultra will be available in the Benelux from June 21. A version with 8GB of ram and 128GB of flash storage costs 829 euros. There will also be a variant with 12GB of ram and 256GB of storage; which will receive a suggested retail price of 949 euros.
