It is still unknown what exactly the chip makes possible that would not be possible without the chip. ZTE has only disclosed that the chip will be included, but does not mention any new functions of the smartphones. The manufacturer will present its new smartphones next Monday. There will be three models: the Axon 40, 40 Pro and 40 Ultra.
Many manufacturers make separate chips for their smartphones. Google has had its Titan M security chips in its Android smartphones for years, while Xiaomi and OPPO, among others, have made separate chips for image processing.
Manufacturers see their own chips as an important strategic means to distinguish their smartphones from the competition. The Axon line is a series of more expensive smartphones from ZTE. It started in 2015 with the first Axon. Well-known phones from the series are the Axon 7 from 2016 and the Axon M with two screens from 2017.
