Zotac Introduces External Video Card Enclosure with Thunderbolt 3
Zotac comes with an external housing for video cards that can be connected to a laptop, mini PC or all-in-one via Thunderbolt 3. The housing also contains a 400W power supply to power the video card.
The Zotac External Graphics Dock includes a Thunderbolt 3 port with 40Gbit/s bandwidth for connection to a PC, while internally the card is plugged into a PCI-e 3.0 slot. The dock also contains four USB 3.0 ports, one of which has Quick Charge support.
The presence of a 400W power supply in combination with USB-C with Thunderbolt means that the accessory can provide connected systems with both data and energy. According to AnandTech, the case can accommodate cards up to 312x170x44mm and supports AMD Radeon RX cards and later generations and Nvidia GeForce GTX 10-series models. The Zotac External Graphics Dock will be released in the second quarter of 2017.
