Zoom makes Zoom Apps and event organization tool Events available
Zoom makes the Zoom Apps platform permanently available. With these so-called Zapps, developers can release apps within the Zoom app. That starts with software like Dropbox and SurveyMonkey. Zoom Events will also be widely available.
The Zoom Apps were announced last year, but are now definitively available. Zooms Apps or Zapps are applications that can be integrated into Zoom, such as games, project management tools and newsletters. The Zoom Apps can be downloaded in Zoom’s own marketplace. It now contains just over 50 applications, including Kahoot, Asana, Dropbox Spaces and SurveyMonkey.
The apps only work in the desktop and phone clients, but not in the browser application. System administrators can manage which Zoom apps are used within a network. Developers can sign up if they want to get started with apps themselves.
In addition to the Apps, Zoom has also released Events. This allows users to set up their own conference where different participants can then watch presentations. With Events it is possible to create free or paid events that are public or private. During events it is possible to run several sessions at the same time. The tool has a chat lobby and a built-in ticket and registration system. In the fall, the feature will be expanded for events that last for days and have different tracks.
