The next game coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is 2000’s The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The N64 game was the sequel to Ocarina of Time and generally has a more mature tone than its predecessor .

Nintendo makes on Twitter announced that Majora’s Mask is the next game, but did not mention a further release date other than “February”. A pattern in the frequency of releases for the service has yet to form, but so far two N64 games have been added since the service’s release in October: those were Paper Mario 64 in December and Banjo-Kazooie in January† So the pattern seems to come down to an N64 game per month. In addition, five Sega Mega Drive games were added in December.

Predecessor Ocarina of Time and other N64 games on the Switch had to deal with technical shortcomings at the time of their release, such as input lag and frame rate problems. Nintendo seems behind the scenes to work to those problems, but at the same time it is reported that they have not yet been completely eliminated. It therefore seems possible that Majora’s Mask will not be emulated flawlessly.

In addition to the N64, the game was also previously released on the GameCube. A remake of it was also released for Nintendo 3DS, with stereoscopic view, modified boss battles and an additional fishing minigame.

The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack costs 39.99 euros per year and includes the standard Nintendo Switch Online service, worth 19.99 euros per year. With Family subscriptions, the total price goes up a bit further, but that also offers a maximum of eight accounts.
