YouTubers Who Owned CS:GO Lotto Gambling Site Have Been Sued
Two prominent YouTubers, “Syndicate” and “TmarTn,” have been added to a lawsuit against Valve for promoting gambling through CS:GO. The two turned out to be the owners of the gambling site CS:GO Lotto. They praised the site in their videos.
The complaint was filed by a parent of a minor and the two YouTubers were added, according to Polygon, with the claim that they “actively promoted Lotto as a gambling service, including to minors.” The original case is against Valve and is one of two charges against the game company for gambling via CS:GO.
The claim is that Valve intentionally created a gambling service around CS:GO. The trade in and betting on weapons from the game is said to have represented a value of $2.3 billion last year, just over two billion euros. Gambling sites CS:GO Diamonds, CS:GO Lounge, and CS:GO Lotto offer a link to Steam accounts to allow gambling with the weapon skins.
Steam did block CS:GO Lotto last week, but that was only for a short time and turned out not to be the intention. There has been a lot of criticism of ‘Syndicate’ and ‘TmarTn’ for keeping silent about owning CS:GO Lotto and regularly touting this site in their videos. In total, the two channels have about ten million subscribers.
