YouTube will soon stop with TV interface Leanback
YouTube will no longer offer its web interface Leanback. The interface specialized for TV and other devices can be reached via the web, allowing HTPCs, among others, to get a better YouTube experience.
It is still possible to visit the web interface by navigating to youtube.com/tv, but users will be notified that support will be discontinued soon. Incidentally, no date is mentioned, so it is still uncertain how long Leanback can still be used. After the end date, YouTube can be visited via the main page or via an app.
The so-called Leanback interface came out in 2010 as an experimental Android application but has since evolved into an interface for devices for which there is no official YouTube support. It is likely that YouTube wants to put an end to this, and the notification that users see refers to the official applications that YouTube has released. This makes it more difficult for HTPCs and other non-YouTube-supported devices to use a dedicated interface for TV.
