YouTube shows graph in video player showing most viewed video segments

YouTube has started rolling out a chart overlay at the bottom of the video player that allows users to see at a glance the most viewed segment of a video. That writes TechCrunch. The feature was previously only available to Premium subscribers.

The chart is translucent and is located just above the timeline of a video. The higher that chart reaches at a given point, the more viewers have watched that point of the video. When a user reaches the most (re)watched segment of a video, this is indicated below the thumbnail. The amount of viewers at a given time of a video can according to TechCrunch provide information about the popularity or information value of that segment in the video. It is not clear whether the feature will be rolled out globally immediately. According to TechCrunch, the overlay is coming to all YouTube users and across all platforms.
