YouTube has given its Music app for Android an update, which allows customers of the paid premium service to choose the audio quality for streaming over mobile internet and Wi-Fi.

With the settings for streaming via mobile internet and via WiFi users of the YouTube Music app on Android can choose from four levels in audio quality: low, normal, high and always high. In addition, the Downloads section of the settings offers the choice between low, normal and high and YouTube has added a new option to the video settings: “audio only.”

The bitrates corresponding to the settings are not known, ] writes 9to5Google . YouTube adds the options so that users with a tight data bundle are less likely to exceed their limit by listening to music through the service or filling their storage with downloads.

At the end of August, YouTube introduced its Music and Music Premium services in the Benelux. For 10 euros per month, users can listen to music on the platform in the background and download songs.
