YouTube is testing controls for listening to music in its app
YouTube is testing the ‘listening controls’ function in its app, which allows users to control the playback of music on the video platform. The controls appear to be available only to Premium subscribers.
YouTube is testing ‘listening controls’ in its regular app. Until now, the YouTube Music platform has pushed forward with its own app for the playback of music. With listening controls, Premium subscribers get the ability to invoke controls on music videos that specifically show the song name, video, and channel. In addition to the play and pause button and the ability to skip, there are buttons to fast forward or backward ten seconds, 9to5Google noted.
Users can also like, save and adjust the tempo of songs directly in the playback menu. The control also works in combination with the cast function for playback on external speakers. YouTube seems to be testing the feature only on iOS for now. It is not known on what scale the video platform is experimenting with the controls.
