YouTube gets support for 60fps video footage
YouTube will soon offer uploaders the option to upload images at 48 or even 60 frames per second, where that is currently a maximum of 30 fps. The video site will also receive support for making donations to uploaders.
YouTube has already published a trio of videos in 60fps; It is not known exactly when the functionality will be available for all uploaders. Google will hold it up sometime in the coming months. Videos should look smoother due to the high frame rate. Google’s video site announced the impending changes at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco.
Furthermore, YouTube is adding the ability to donate money to a YouTube channel; uploaders interested in it can sign up. YouTube is also coming up with a library of sound files so video creators can incorporate copyright-free sound effects into their videos.
Soon, viewers will be able to create their own subtitles for YouTube videos, so that more videos can have subtitles; that feature will not only be useful for videos in another language, but with more subtitles, the deaf and hard of hearing can also follow more videos. YouTube will also make it easier to indicate who has contributed to a particular video. Finally, the Creator Studio, which allows uploaders to monitor the popularity of their videos, among other things, is now also available as an Android app; an iOS version will follow in the coming weeks.
