'YouTube employees watch videos before publication and leak information'
YouTube is conducting several investigations into leaks by employees who had early access to videos and released information from them. That happened again last week with Sony's State of Play stream.
Insider Gaming was presented with the entire list of games on State of Play from four different people hours before the stream was publicly available online, writes the site. YouTube employees can already watch pre-recorded, scheduled videos in the back end. According to the site, this is not the first time this has happened.
Likewise, the first trailer for GTA VI would have been released early, the site claims. YouTube has started an investigation into this. A third case of the use of information is an action by a YouTuber who showed Amazon gift cards on screen for the first person who could redeem them. All codes turned out to have been redeemed before the video went live.
YouTube and parent company Google have not publicly commented on the information. Many companies, YouTubers and media use the option to schedule videos in advance and have them go online at a certain time.
