YouTube builds livestream function in mobile app
YouTube is building a live streaming feature in its mobile app. That has been announced by the video site. The live streaming feature allows users to stream images and it will come to YouTube just like any other videos and live streams.
The feature will go live this week for a limited number of users, the Google subsidiary reports. The live stream feature will work with a big red record button in the bottom right corner of the app. After that, users can livestream directly with the camera of their mobile device. It is likely that the feature can use the image from the rear and front cameras.
After this release for some users, more and more people will get the live streaming feature, YouTube says. How quickly that will happen is unknown. With the move, YouTube is turning into a live streaming platform like Facebook and Twitter are trying to do too. Facebook has Live, while Twitter offers the live streaming app Periscope. YouTube has been offering live streaming since 2011, but that hasn’t worked through the regular mobile app until now.
