Yongnuo presents 50mm f/1.8 lens for Sony cameras with aps-c sensor
Chinese manufacturer Yongnuo is adding a 50mm f/1.8 lens for Sony E cameras to its range. The autofocus lens is suitable for cameras with an aps-c sensor, such as those from the A6000 series. Yongnuo already made versions for dslr’s from Canon and Nikon.
The 50mm lens uses a stepper motor for autofocus and has an electrically controlled autofocus ring. There is a USB connection so that the firmware of the lens can be updated. The optical design consists of eight lens elements in seven groups. The aperture is adjustable to f/16 and has seven blades. The minimum focusing distance is 45cm and the filter diameter is 49mm. Yongnuo’s 50mm f/1.8 for Sony E cameras measures 64x58mm and weighs 146 grams.
Yongnuo has the lens on its website for 699 Chinese yuan, which is converted about 90 euros. This makes the 50 mm F1.8 S DA DSM slightly more expensive than the variants for SLR cameras; they are listed in the Pricewatch for 79 euros. However, the lens is cheaper than the variants that Sony offers itself. Sony’s FE 50 mm f/1.8, which is also suitable for full-frame cameras, costs 185 euros. In addition, Sony has a 50 mm f/1.8 OSS with image stabilization in its range for aps-c cameras; it costs 259 euros.
