Yamaha seems to introduce new receivers with HDMI 2.1 support
It seems that Yamaha is going to introduce new receivers that include support for HDMI 2.1. This would make it one of the first receivers to support this new HDMI standard.
The German-language Hifi-Forum, among others, reports that Yamaha is coming with new models in the Aventage series. Images of the new receivers have appeared, with a previously published video now being shielded. Based on the images, the devices get a new design, with the large, round volume knob in the middle.

The Aventage series includes the RX-A8, -A6, -A4 and -A2 with support for 11, 9, 7 and 7 channels respectively. These four new models should succeed the RX-A3080, -A2080, -A1080 and the -A880. Yamaha would also launch the RX-V6 with 7 channels and the RX-V4 with 5 channels, the successors of the RX-V685 and RX-V485 respectively.
The new models would all fully support HDMI 2.1, where they should be able to pass an 8k video signal at 60fps. The receivers also support allm, vrr, quick frame transport and quick media switching. eARC is also part of the HDMI 2.1 standard and will therefore be supported by the new receivers, although there are also current receivers with HDMI 2.0 that already support eARC via a software update.
Yamaha has not officially released any further details and has not presented the models at the last CES. It is still unknown how much the new receivers will cost and when they will be released.
