Yamaha has recognized problems with the transmission of 4k120 signals on its HDMI 2.1 receivers. The manufacturer was rather hesitant about the problems. The problem also occurs with HDMI 2.1 receivers from other manufacturers.

The problems came to light earlier this week, after tests by the German c’t magazine. That medium noted that the receivers from different manufacturers could not transmit 4k signals at 120Hz via HDMI 2.1. Several receiver manufacturers confirmed these problems. Yamaha was reluctant at first; the manufacturer only stated that it will provide users with information about the compatibility of its receivers and that it will come with an update shortly. Yamaha now confirms to Forbes that the problem does indeed occur on its recent receivers.

It would be four models in the RX and TSR series. Yamaha reports that the company will fix the problems in the future, but how is not known. Forbes asks Yamaha whether the problems can be solved with a firmware update, but the manufacturer says it does not know this yet.
