Yamaha announces Aventage receivers with HDMI 2.1 for 8k60 and 4k120 transmission

Yamaha announces a new series in the Aventage line of receivers, which currently consists of three models. The receivers have HDMI 2.1 connections for the transmission of 8k60 and 4k120. These would not display the issues that existed with previous connections.

The three new Yamaha receivers are the Aventage RX-A8A, RX-A6A and RX-A4A, with 11, 9 and 7 channels respectively. All models have HDMI 2.1 for 8k60 and 4k120 throughput. Support for uncompressed 8k60AB and 4k120AB pass-through will follow via firmware update.

Yamaha announces to WhatHiFi that the receivers in any case do not run into the HDMI 2.1 problems that the previous generation of receivers had to deal with. They could not transmit 4k signals at 120Hz via HDMI 2.1. Denon and Marantz models also had this problem.

In total, the Aventage has seven HDMI inputs and three outputs and the receivers have support for HDMI 2.1 functionalities such as auto low latency mode, variable refresh rates, quick frame transport and quick media switching.

The devices have a Qualcomm QCS407 soc, with four cores and an Adreno 306 GPU. Furthermore, support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X is also available. The Yamaha RX-A8A, RX-A6A and RX-A4A are available from July this year for suggested retail prices of 3799, 2749 and 1679 euros.
