Xiaomi will release at least ten smartphones with 5G next year
Xiaomi will release at least ten smartphones with 5G next year. Xiaomi made this known at the presentation of its quarterly figures. That is considerably more than this year, because so far only the Mi Mix 3 5G and Mi 9 Pro 5G have been released.
Xiaomi says it is in a position to release 5G phones for the mainstream market, especially in China. Because the Chinese manufacturer releases several dozen different models, it seems that especially the more expensive models will receive 5g for the time being. So far this year around 13 different models have come out above 350 euros.
Xiaomi delivered around 32.1 million smartphones last quarter, the manufacturer claims. This puts the manufacturer in fourth place in the smartphone market, behind Samsung, Huawei and Apple. As a result, deliveries have decreased slightly compared to the same period a year ago, when Xiaomi reached 33.3 million smartphones. The average selling price was around 1000 yuan, about 130 euros. That was slightly lower than last year and according to the manufacturer that is due to a difference in the line-up. The number of monthly active Miui users increased from 278 million three months ago to 291 million today.
The manufacturer derives 60 percent of its turnover from smartphones. About 30 percent comes from sales of other products such as fitness trackers, smart TVs and the hundreds of other products that Xiaomi releases with partner companies. Internet services account for 10 percent of revenue.
Last quarter turnover grew by 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year, to approximately 6.9 billion euros. Operating profit increased by 40 percent to approximately 400 million euros.
