Xiaomi will announce ‘full-screen laptop’ from subsidiary brand Redmi next week
Xiaomi is going to present a ‘full-screen laptop’ under the name of its subsidiary brand Redmi next week. That will happen next Tuesday, when it also presents the successors to its Redmi K20 phones. The RedmiBook will include a ‘custom display PCB’.
Teaser for RedmiBook
The laptop will have a thinner and lighter housing than current RedmiBooks, says the manufacturer. A teaser shows that although the manufacturer calls it a “full-screen laptop,” the bezel on the bottom is still thicker than the one on the sides, notes Gizchina. The edge at the bottom is half the size of the current Redmibook. Xiaomi announced that at the end of May.
It is unclear what Xiaomi means by a ‘custom display PCB’. Presumably, the operation has been changed to allow for thinner bezels. The manufacturer will probably emphasize this during the presentation next week.
At the presentation Tuesday, Xiaomi will also show the Redmi K30 series. Those are smartphones that are the successors of the Redmi K20. Those phones came out in the Benelux as Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro. Redmi is a subsidiary brand of Xiaomi and the manufacturer places the brand name mainly on cheaper models. Xiaomi has been making laptops for several years now.
