Xiaomi updates list of smartphones that receive quarterly security updates
From now on, Xiaomi will release a new security update for more than 60 smartphones at least every quarter. Some smartphones even get an update every month. It concerns devices from the manufacturer itself, but also from subsidiaries POCO and Redmi.
The Chinese manufacturer recently updated its support page about security updates, notes XDA. On the page, Xiaomi emphasizes that all new smartphones will receive Android upgrades for at least two years from the time of release. How frequently users can expect an update of the operating system in the meantime varies per device.
Only the Xiaomi Mi A3, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite receive a monthly security update. According to Xiaomi’s website, the vast majority of devices receive a security update once a quarter. Incidentally, some devices are missing in the list. Xiaomi mentions the Mi 11 Ultra and Mi 11 Lite, but the standard Mi 11 and the Pro variant are missing. The Mi 10 Ultra and Redmi K30 series also seem to be missing.
