Xiaomi starts spreading Android 10 upgrade for Pocophone F1

Xiaomi has started distributing the Android 10 upgrade for the Pocophone F1. The upgrade comes in the form of MIUI 11, the Chinese company’s own Android shell. Reportedly, the AirDrop competitor is also in this version.

In addition to Android 10’s standard improvements and additions, this upgrade should also provide users with new fonts, custom ambient display messages, and the MI Work productivity apps. That write, among others, Android Police and Android Authority. Android 10 itself is also the first version with a system-wide dark mode. Furthermore, with this upgrade, the phone will receive a security updates roll-up until February 2020.

The upgrade is over the air and users basically don’t have to do anything to get it in. It may take a while before everyone has had their turn, as these types of upgrades are always introduced in the form of a ‘rollout’.

The Pocophone F1 came out in 2018 and brought a price-performance ratio that has not been found on the Android market for a while. The phone is thus reminiscent of the OnePlus One, which made a similar entrance on the market in 2014.

The successor of this phone is now known. The Poco X2 gets a 120Hz screen and has the same specifications as the Redmi K30, so a Snapdragon 730G. At the time of that unveiling, nothing was known about an international release; the device is currently only intended for the Indian market.
