Xiaomi shows the possibility to charge smartphone wirelessly with 40W
Smartphone maker Xiaomi introduces the possibility to wirelessly charge a smartphone with 40W. This would make it possible to charge a phone battery with a capacity of 4000mAh in forty minutes.
Xiaomi speaks of its first wireless charging solution with a power of 40W. In a video, the company shows that an unnamed smartphone with a capacity of 4000mAh could be charged from 0 to 100 percent in forty minutes. Loading from 0 to 57 percent would be completed in twenty minutes.
The manufacturer does not indicate when it will add support for wireless charging with 40W to smartphones and which models will qualify for it first. The Xiaomi Mi 10 and the Mi 9 Pro 5G already support wireless charging at 30W; the company presented this fast charging technology in September last year.
Manufacturer Vivo recently showed the Apex 2020 concept smartphone that supports wireless charging with 60W. Xiaomi demonstrated a year ago a 100W fast charging technology with which a 4000mAh battery can be fully charged in 17 minutes. However, Xiaomi’s vice president Lu Weibing said last month that there are still some challenges to overcome before a smartphone with support for 100W fast charging is possible.
