Xiaomi sends invitation to presentation ‘metal’ product

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has sent out an invitation, hinting at the presentation of an undisclosed metal product. The company’s invitation presumably refers to Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi4 smartphone.

The invitation, published by Miui.com, is for an event on July 22 and features a large 4 with accompanying text stating that it is “the annual product presentation” and that the manufacturer will talk about “the journey of a piece of metal ‘.

Xiaomi has presented its most important smartphone so far every summer. Nothing is known about the Mi4 yet, but chances are it will run on a Qualcomm soc; the Mi3, Mi2 and Mi1 also ran on socs from the American manufacturer and the chip supplier also invested in Xiaomi early on.

Fans seem to be hoping that Xiaomi will also show off a new version of its software. Test versions of Miui v6 have been going around for months, but an update has not been released so far.
