Xiaomi releases mechanical keyboard for gamers

Xiaomi has announced a mechanical keyboard with RGB lighting. The company uses an aluminum housing and Red switches from the relatively unknown brand TTC for its ‘Gaming Keyboard’.

The release of the mechanical keyboard follows Xiaomi’s Mi Gaming Mouse, headset and Mi Gaming laptop earlier this year. It is a full keyboard with 104 keys, which contains Red switches from TTC. TTC stands for Trantek Co and is a maker of microswitches for, among other things, mice and keyboards. The company also makes Blue, Brown, and Black switches. Xiaomi is the first company to use its new hybrid Red switches with 3mm travel, according to TTC.

The keyboard has adjustable RGB lighting. Management is via integrated software and fn keys, so according to AnandTech it does not appear that third-party RGB software is supported. The keyboard supports 33-key rollover and has a polling rate of 1000Hz. Programmable keys are not present and there is also no support for macros. The sale has started in the home country of China for a suggested retail price of 229 yuan, which is converted and with VAT about 35.50 euros.

Update, 14.40: Initially, the title said it was Xiaomi’s first mechanical keyboard. That is not the case: the company already had the Yuemi MK01, a white keyboard with which the company did not target gamers.
