Xiaomi presents successor fitness tracker MiBand
Xiaomi has presented the successor to its fitness tracker MiBand. The AmazFit is a device that appears in many variants, can be worn as a bracelet and necklace. The wearable gets a higher price than the MiBand has.
Where the MiBand currently costs 79 yuan, converted around 11 euros, the AmazFit will cost 299 yuan, which amounts to almost 42 euros. That low price for the MiBand would have been one of the reasons the Chinese brand has sold millions of them and has become one of the largest manufacturers of wearables within a year.
The successor to the MiBand has a pedometer, can track sleep and has a battery life of up to ten days. Charging works wirelessly. The wearable, which is shaped like a small donut, has an IP68 certification and is therefore resistant to water and dust.
The device will be released in China in October. Whether and when it will be on sale in other countries where Xiaomi is active is not yet clear. Xiaomi is officially still not active in Europe.
