Xiaomi presents Redmi Note 5 Pro with dual camera
Xiaomi has presented the Redmi Note 5 Pro. It is a variant of the previously shown Redmi 5 Plus with a Snapdragon 636-soc from Qualcomm and a dual camera. The device is intended for the Indian market.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first announced phone with Snapdragon 636, a modified version of the previously released Snapdragon 630. In it, Qualcomm has exchanged the Cortex A53 cores of the 630 for its ‘own’ Kryo 260 cores. This involves eight CPU cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz. The Kryo 260 bears the name of Qualcomm, but it is presumably a modified version of Cortex A53 cores. Qualcomm has the soc made at 14nm. The GPU is an Adreno 509.
Xiaomi adds 4GB or 6GB of lpddr4x memory. The storage is of the emmc 5.0 type and has a capacity of 64GB. The storage is also expandable via a microSD card. The phone has support for 4G, but important bands for support in the Benelux are missing. The phone does not work over 4g on 800MHz, 900MHz and 2600MHz.
The primary camera on the back has a Sony IMX486 sensor with a resolution of up to twelve megapixels, with pixels of 1.25 micrometers in size and an f/2.2 lens. The secondary sensor is from Samsung and has a maximum resolution of five megapixels. Xiaomi uses the second lens to blur the background of photos. The front camera is a 20-megapixel module from Samsung.
Xiaomi will release the Redmi Note 5 Pro next week for 13,999 rupees, currently about 176 euros. In addition, it comes with Redmi Note 5, an Indian variant of the Redmi 5 Plus from China.
