Xiaomi presents Mi Box S with Android TV

Xiaomi has presented the Mi Box S, a set-top box with Android TV. Compared to the previous Mi Box, the new device has a smaller housing, a new Android version and support for Google Cast and Assistant.

The Mi Box S is slightly smaller than its predecessor, with a size of 9.5×9.5cm and a thickness of almost 17mm. It has also become a little lighter. The soc is still an unnamed quad-core processor with Cortex A53 cores, assisted by a Mali 450 GPU from ARM. These are the same characteristics as with the previous Mi Box from 2016. Just like the previous version, there is 2GB DDR3 memory and 8GB of emmc storage.

The support for images is therefore the same: the Mi Box S can stream at 4k resolution with HDR. In addition, the remote control now has an Assistant button and Netflix button. The Mi Box S is currently only available in the United States, at retail chain Walmart. There, the set-top box costs $59.99.
