Xiaomi may show its first large 6.4″ smartphone on May 10
Xiaomi is going to present its first smartphone with a large screen, presumably 6.4 “, on May 10. The Chinese manufacturer announces this in a teaser, which can be seen on the Chinese social network Weibo. Until now, the largest smartphone of the manufacturer a 5.7” screen.
The Weibo post reveals that Xiaomi is holding an event to introduce the Mi Max on May 10. A listing in the database of benchmark GFXBench shows a full-HD screen with a diagonal of 6.4″. If that listing is correct, the device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650-soc, a hexacore with two Cortex A72 cores and four A53 cores. The memory is said to be 2GB, while the storage seems to come out at 16GB.
The camera mentions a maximum resolution of sixteen megapixels, a resolution that the Mi 5 also supports. Further details about the device are not yet known. An image that Xiaomi put online before the weekend showed the device in the pocket of a pair of jeans. The Mi logo, which is characteristic of Xiaomi, was not visible at the top left. The Mi 5 does have that logo, just like all previous Xiaomi devices. If the screen has a diagonal of 6.4″, the device is a total of 8.4 cm wide and 17 cm long. For comparison: the Nexus 6 from Motorola is 16 x 8.3 cm.
Phones with a screen above 6″ are quite rare. Huawei released the P8max last year, while Sony released the Xperia Z Ultra with a 6.4″ screen a few years ago.
