Xiaomi introduces Redmi S2 budget smartphone with 16MP front camera
Xiaomi has announced the Redmi S2, a smartphone that, according to the company, should distinguish itself in particular with its front camera. It is a 16-megapixel camera with 1μm large pixels and LED flash.
The smartphone can be unlocked with a face scan. On the back are two cameras, one of twelve megapixels with 1.25 µm size and one of five megapixels and pixel size of 1.12 µm. The device has a 5.99 “screen with a resolution of 1440×720 pixels. The processor is the Snapdragon 625 and there are variants with 3GB ram and 4GB ram on the market.
The battery capacity of the Redmi S2 is 3080mAh and fast charging does not seem to be an option. There is room for two SIM cards and the storage capacity can be expanded with a micro SD card. The manufacturer supplies the device in the colors pink, gold and silver, with Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.
The version with 3GB ram and 32GB storage costs in China converted and with VAT about 160 euros, the one with 4GB ram and 64GB storage about 208 euros. It is not known whether Xiaomi will also release the smartphone in Europe. The company recently announced its official arrival in France and Italy, but the smartphones will also be on the shelves at Kruidvat.
