Xiaomi Germany confirms arrival of Mi TV Stick
Xiaomi Germany showed the Mi TV Stick during a presentation that mainly revolved around the announcement of the Redmi Note 9 smartphones. There have been rumors for some time about the arrival of this product for televisions and they have now been confirmed by Xiaomi.
During the online presentation, Xiaomi only briefly showed a frame on which the Mi TV Stick can be seen. The German presenter did not give any further details and only said that the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will lead to a better and simpler TV experience. The product is likely to hit the market sometime in the coming months. It is clear that this is a dongle that can be plugged into an HDMI connection of a television and that a remote control is included. On that remote are buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix and Prime video.
Based on a display on Gearbest, the Mi TV Stick may have the following specifications. The product runs on Android 9, which is probably Android TV. Furthermore, an Amlogic S905 Y2 quad-core processor is on board, a Mali-G31 GPU, 2GB ram and 8GB for storage. These are almost exactly the same specifications as the Xiaomi Mi Box S released last year. There is also support for audio formats from Dolby and DTS. 4k, hdr and 60fps are also possible. Like the Xiaomi Mi Box S, there is probably a Chromecast Ultra built-in and Netflix will at least be able to stream in full HD resolution.
It is still unknown when the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will be released and for what price. In the search list of Gearbest, a price of 80 dollars is mentioned. If that price is right, the Mi TV Stick will be a bit more expensive than the Xiaomi Mi Box S at release.
