Xiaomi detaches 4.9mm thick screen from electronics with Mi TV 4

Xiaomi has announced the Mi TV 4. The television is 4.9 mm thick at its thinnest point, partly because the motherboard and interfaces are incorporated in the external soundbar. According to Xiaomi, it is a ‘modular TV’.

The Mi TV 4 with TV Bar comes in a 65″ version. The TV bar contains three HDMI ports, two USB ports, ethernet, av-in, s/pdif and the connection for the subwoofer. The TV Bar can be connected to the screen with a single cable. According to the manufacturer, this makes access to the interfaces much easier and also allows the electronics to be easily exchanged for new versions. This is why Xiaomi speaks of a “modular TV”.

The TV Bar also contains ten speakers and there is support for two optionally available wireless satellite speakers and the subwoofer for Dolby Atmos support. The Chinese manufacturer has put the Mi TV 4 65 “on transparent feet. In the US, the TV will be available for ‘less than $1500’, the combination with the audio set is less than $2000.
