Xiaomi comes with MagSafe battery pack for iPhones
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced a MagSafe battery pack for iPhones. The manufacturer sells its version for a lower price than Apple does for its MagSafe battery packs.
Xiaomi has the battery pack put on your own site. This shows that unlike the Apple version, the battery pack has an on/off button to switch charging on or off. Just like the Apple version itself, the Xiaomi battery pack can be clicked on the back of an iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 via the magnets that are in that phone. Xiaomi provides a stand, which charges the pack via pogo pins.
The pack itself does not have a Lightning connector, but a USB-C port. It is also possible to charge other devices via that port. The capacity of the battery pack is 18.5Wh, which is more than Apple’s, which comes out at 11.1Wh. Charging is done with 7.5W, just like Apple’s own battery pack if it is not connected to an adapter.
Xiaomi is asking 199 yuan for the product in China, which is currently about 29 euros. It is not obvious that a release outside of China will follow, because Xiaomi releases relatively few accessories outside of China. Apple itself asks 119 euros for its MagSafe Battery Pack. It is not the first time that Xiaomi has released accessories aimed at iPhones. For example, it has already come up with coolers for certain iPhone models. Xiaomi has also been making power banks for years.
