Xiaomi announces the TV Stick 4K based on Google’s Android TV 11 operating system. The Chinese company supplies a remote control for the dongle as standard. No release date or price has been announced yet.

The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is the successor to the Mi TV Stick released last year and, unlike the latter, is able to stream content in a 4k resolution. Although it is not yet known whether the 4k variant will also be available in the Benelux, last year’s Mi TV Stick was released here.

Most of the technical specifications of the TV Stick 4K correspond to those of its predecessor. The dongle is once again powered by a CPU with four Arm Cortex-A53 cores and an Arm Mali-450 GPU. There is also still 8GB of storage; there’s no way to expand that with a microSD card. The latest generation of TV Stick does have twice as much memory, namely 2GB instead of 1GB. The device measures 106.8×29.4×15.4mm and weighs just under 43 grams.

The dongle supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, and can handle WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. The latter is used to connect to the remote, which has Google Assistant, Netflix and Amazon Prime buttons. Xiaomi also includes an HDMI extension cable to ensure compatibility with televisions where the stick does not physically fit.
