Xiaomi announces Mi Note 2 with Edge screen on Tuesday
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi will unveil its new top model on October 25. The Mi Note 2 will have an Edge screen, similar to that of the Samsung Edge devices. The device is rumored to have two cameras, a Snapdragon 821 and 6GB of RAM.
The fact that the device will be announced next Tuesday and has a screen that is rounded on both sides is by Xiaomi itself confirmed. In February, there were already rumors that Xiaomi, among others, would use an Edge screen. According to those reports, it is actually a 5.7 “OLED screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels from the Samsung factory, which the South Korean manufacturer itself uses for the edge versions of the Galaxy S6 and S7.
Slides of the presentation of the Xiaomi Note Mi 2 have already been leaked via the Chinese Weibo, reports AndroidPure. It shows that the device will receive a Snapdragon 821-soc from Qualcomm and 4GB or 6GB of ram, depending on the version. There would be two cameras on the back: a 23-megapixel model with Sony IMX318 sensor and a 12-megapixel camera with IMX378 chip. At the front would be an 8-megapixel camera, with support for logging in via an iris scan.
It is not yet certain whether the information on those images is correct. The mentioned price of 2999 yuan, converted 407 euros, for the top model, seems to be too low. Xiaomi has previously indicated that it will come up with an expensive high-end smartphone that will cost between 4000 and 5000 yuan. Other rumors indicate that Xiaomi is planning to launch the Mi Note 2 in China for 5699 Yuan.
