Xiaomi announces budget smartphone Mi Play with small notch

Xiaomi has announced the Mi Play in China, a smartphone with a 5.84″ LCD with a small notch for the front camera. The phone has a MediaTek P35 soc, 4GB ram and a 3000mAh battery that can be charged via a micro-cell. USB connection is charging.

The LCD of the Xiaomi Mi Play has a 19:9 ratio, a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and a notch reminiscent of the water drop-shaped notch that more and more manufacturers are using. In the small recess is the eight-megapixel front camera.

Xiaomi uses a MediaTek P35 soc for the device that is made at 12nm and consists of eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash storage. On the back is a 12-megapixel camera and a second camera with a 2-megapixel sensor.

The device has dimensions of 148x72mm and is 7.8mm thick. The weight is about 150 grams according to the manufacturer. Xiaomi aims with the device on the Asian market, in China the phone will be released for 1099 yuan. Converted that is about 140 euros. It is not yet clear whether the Xiaomi Mi Play will also come to the Benelux later on.
