XFX has posted images of the Radeon R9 390X on its site. At the same time, information about the map of Asus has appeared. The R9 390X seems to get higher clock speeds in the CU-II OC version than the comparable R9 290X version and also comes with 8GB instead of 4GB gddr5.

XFX has the Radeon R9 390X on its R9 290X product page. The images show that the card is combined with 8GB gddr5 and that XFX combines the product with Dirt Rally. The 390X in this version has two fans and seven heatpipes. There are also two DVI-D connections, HDMI and Displayport.

The Czech site PCTuning claims to have the specifications of the Asus R9 390X in its hands. It concerns the data from the DirectCU-II OC version with a clock speed of 1070MHz and a memory speed of, effectively, 6000MHz. With that, the newcomer seems to run only a fraction faster in terms of clock speed than the current DirectCU-11 OC version of the R9 290X, which runs at 1050MHz and has an effective memory frequency of 5400MHz. The 390X does have 8GB gddr5.

Videocardz and PCTuning use both messages to claim that the Radeon R9 390X is a rebrand of the R9 290X with more memory and higher clock speeds.

The new Radeon line will be announced on June 16. Then the Radeon R9 card with Fiji GPU and HBM memory should also be officially presented, probably under the name Radeon R9 Fury.

Update, 10.40: The claim that it is possible to rebrand is emphatically in the text attributed to Videocardz and PCTuning.
