XDA-Developers publishes preview of early build Android Q
The website XDA-Developers has put a preview online of what should be an early build of Android Q. The new Android version includes a desktop mode and the option to let apps request the location only if they are in the foreground.
In addition, there is a dark mode in Android Q, reports XDA-Developers. It is an aosp build of Android Q with the February patches in it, but without Google applications. Those turned out not to work on the build, which runs on a Pixel 3. XDA-Developers does not report where it got the build from.
Dark mode now darkens all menus and apps, although there is a way to override the setting. That’s presumably for apps that don’t have a built-in dark mode. The privacy settings have also been greatly improved. For example, users can more easily set permissions per app and users can choose that apps can only track location in the foreground. That’s not possible in Android right now. A notification also appears at the top of the screen with which app is actively using a permission as the location or the microphone.
In addition, interface elements have been changed. For example, it is only possible to swipe away notifications to the right and no longer to the left. Google has not responded to the appearance of the preview. The search giant usually announces the first version of its new Android release around March.
