Xbox One and PS4 owners are reporting a lot of bugs with Cyberpunk 2077

On the day of Cyberpunk 2077’s release, many early players of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions report that the game is full of bugs and glitches. It is unclear whether those players have already installed the Day 1 patch and to what extent it offers relief.

Users of the previous generation consoles experience crashes, image stuttering, freeze frame, frame drops, blurry images and strange looking NPCs, Polygon lists based on social media posts, among other things. Also on Reddit, users complain in a topic where a PS4 owner calls the game ‘unfinished and a disaster with graphics and textures’.

However, it is unclear whether the console players already have the extensive patch that CD Projekt Red will release on the release day. At least some of the complaining players don’t seem to have waited for the patch. At the same time, it is also not clear to what extent the patch of 43GB will improve. CD Projekt Red reported earlier this week that the patch is turning Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles into ‘a totally different game’.

The game seems to have fewer problems on the PC. The game seems to run relatively smoothly, especially when players make driver updates for their video cards. Players also report that they do not experience any major problems during the first playing sessions. Last week the first reviews of Cyberpunk 2077 appeared. This concerned only the reviews of the PC version. Those reviews also highlighted the presence of bugs, despite a Day 0 patch that CD Projekt Red already released to reviewers in the run-up to the Day 1 patch. The reviews of the console versions have yet to appear.
