Xbox One users may experience problems purchasing and using online content. This is due to an outage in the Xbox Live service that started during Tuesday evening.

Microsoft’s status page states that there may be issues with purchasing and using online, downloadable games. The same goes for purchasing and using prepaid cards for downloadable items or Xbox Live subscriptions. Users may also experience issues with live TV, streaming music and video, and browsing the Xbox Video Store and Xbox Music Store. In addition, problems may arise when users access the My games & apps section of the Xbox interface.

These items are marked as ‘restricted’ on the status page. According to Microsoft, all games and the Xbox Live core services will work normally. The company states on Twitter that there are still problems, although improvements have been made. Microsoft is not yet providing an estimated time for when the Xbox Live service should be fully operational again.

Players worldwide are reporting that they cannot play their online games; Error messages are displayed on start-up. Also on the malfunction website Allestoringen.nl, players indicate that playing games is problematic, partly because logging in with their account is not possible.
