Xbox Live gets major update with Arena for competitive games
Microsoft has announced a major update for Xbox Live. The service will have Clubs, Looking for Group and Arena features starting this fall. It also becomes possible to play your own music while gaming and the language can be set independently of the region.
The Xbox Live update, which will be released this fall, will add ‘Clubs on Xbox Live’. With this feature it is possible to create communities in which gamers with similar interests can gather. Another new feature is ‘Looking for Group’, which should make it easy to find like-minded people to play multiplayer games.
There will also be ‘Arena on Xbox Live’, a platform where online game championships will be organized. Microsoft will do that in collaboration with game makers. The company mentions H1Z1, Smite and World of Tanks as examples. There will also be a collaboration with EA Sports, which will bring FIFA to the Arena on Xbox Live, among others.
Microsoft also emphasizes that Cortana is coming to the Xbox One. Last week it was already announced that Microsoft will bring the voice assistant to Xbox Preview members. Xbox Live is available on Xbox One, Windows 10 and as of Monday also as an app for Android and iOS.
