The Xbox Game Bar, a built-in overlay in Windows 10 for game-related settings, now shows which apps are taking a toll on the system’s performance. You can now also see which programs require which percentage of the capacity of the GPU and the memory of the GPU.

Microsoft says it has added a widget that is consistent with how the task manager window works in Windows and can be seen as an alternative to it. This Resources widget is available as part of the Xbox Game Bar. The advanced screen of this widget shows the current processes. These can be closed from the window and it is also shown what percentage they require of the performance of the cpu, gpu, and ram, for example. In a simplified view, only the process is named and also the impact it has on the system, which is indicated by colors ranging from low to high.

In addition, Microsoft has provided the existing Performance widget with a minor update. This already existing widget can now also accurately display GPU utilization and VRAM usage. This widget already showed the load on, for example, the CPU, the working memory and there was also an FPS counter.

As with the Resources widget, the Performance widget allows users to customize a variety of elements to tailor the display to their needs. Furthermore, the Xbox Game Bar under the skin has been improved so that the overlay works faster. And a Gaming features tab has been added, where users can see if their system is ready for the latest features, such as DirectX 12 Ultimate.

Since April this year, the Xbox Game Bar supports widgets. Users can add widgets through the Game Bar Widget Store. The Xbox Game Bar is part of Windows 10 and can be called up via the key combination Win + G.
