Xbox Cloud Gaming includes over 150 console and PC games with touch controls
Xbox Cloud Gaming now includes more than 150 custom console and PC games that have touchscreen support. Microsoft says that games with touch controls are played twice as much as when they didn’t have touch controls.
Developers can adapt their games for Xbox Cloud Gaming, making them better suited for smartphones with larger fonts and touch controls, for example. Microsoft calls these games Cloud Aware and says there are now a hundred and fifty games are with touch controls.
For that touch control, which the company says is easy to add, developers can opt for ‘simple’ buttons or for completely customized input. Minecraft Dungeons was the first game to receive custom touch controls through Xbox Cloud Gaming in September 2020. In that month, the game streaming feature also came to Android phones for the first time. A month later, Microsoft added ten more games with touch controls.
Touch control is not a requirement to be able to stream a game to phones: gamers can also connect a controller to their smartphone and play with it. But Microsoft does state that when games get touch controls, they are played twice as much. In addition, 20 percent of all Xbox Cloud Gaming users play games with touch controls exclusively.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on PC, Android and iOS smartphones and consoles. Microsoft says the cloud gaming service has been used on more than 6,000 types of devices. The company reiterates that more than ten million people have streamed a game through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs 13 euros per month. Xbox Cloud Gaming is available in 26 countries and was previously known as Project xCloud.
