Xbox beta app hints at streaming games from console to Windows Mobile
A new beta of the Xbox application for Windows Mobile has been released, and it contains a reference to playing games from the Xbox console. However, the feature does not work yet, so most of the details are still missing.
A user of the new beta application posted his findings on Reddit and showed screenshots for proof. There is a button in the app called “play from console”, which has replaced the previously introduced “play on console” button. This subtle change in the text hints that it will be possible to stream games from the Xbox console to the smartphone, something that is also reflected in other texts within the app.
Because the functionality is not yet working, it is not possible to say exactly what game streaming will look like, or whether this will apply to all games. Microsoft has not yet released anything about the discovered functionality. However, it’s possible that the Redmond-based company will officially introduce game streaming at its E3 meeting next month. The appearance of the new buttons in the Xbox app indicates that a quick introduction will follow.
