Xbox app gives parents more control over children’s spending habits

Microsoft has added new features to the Xbox Family Settings app to give parents more insight into children’s spending habits. For example, they can limit how much money children can spend on games and give them more money with the app.

Of the new features can parents give their children more money for games and in-game purchases, or can they make sure they can spend less money. Through the app parents can give their children certain amounts, from ten dollars to a maximum of one hundred dollars. This amount of money is then added to a child’s Microsoft account.

The Ask to Buy function again notifies parents if a child wants to buy something for which he or she does not have enough money. Parents can then choose to pay for the purchase themselves, to give their child money, or to refuse the purchase.

With the update, parents can also see how much money a child still has in his or her Microsoft account and what a child’s payment history is. The Xbox Family Settings app became available for Android and iOS last year and allows parents to limit screen time and manage who children play and chat with, among other things.
