Xbox app for Windows lets users move games and choose installation folder

Microsoft is updating the Xbox app for Windows, after which users can choose in which folder and on which disc games are installed. The files of ‘some’ games can be accessed. Games can also be moved.

According to Microsoft, the renewed Xbox app also allows the modding of ‘more games’, but exact details about that are not known. The new version with the option to install games in other folders is available immediately. Previously, games were installed in the protected WindowsApps folder, which users cannot access by default.

Gamers who want to move previously installed games do not need to do the installation again. By right clicking on the game it is possible to activate ‘advanced management features’. After that, a game can be moved.

In the Xbox app settings, users can choose a folder where games will be installed by default. You can also indicate there to be asked which folder to use with every installation. Microsoft says it made the changes based on user feedback.
