Xbox app for Windows gets label with performance expectations for PC games
Microsoft is going to add a performance label to the Xbox app for Windows. Shows how well PC games will run on users’ PCs. This allows users to check whether a game works on their PC before downloading it.
The performance tag is currently in beta of the Xbox app and is limited to a few specific games, The Verge was the first to note. For example, supported games show a label that says, “Should play fine on this PC.” The label appears on several older games from Microsoft studios, including Forza Horizon 4, Halo games from the Master Chief Collection, and Minecraft.
This doesn’t work for all games yet. Several games show that a ‘performance check is not yet available’. This includes more recent games such as the Halo Infinite multiplayer and Forza Horizon 5. This suggests that the label is not just based on a game’s system requirements; the company may be working on its own database of game performance on different systems, The Verge also speculates. Microsoft itself hasn’t given any official details about the label yet, so this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
It is not yet known when Microsoft will make the performance label available to all users. It is already possible to test the label. Users can download the Xbox Insider Hub app and sign up for the “Windows Gaming” preview to access trial versions of the Xbox app for Windows.
