Microsoft will make it possible for users to request a refund if they are not satisfied with the purchase of an app or game for Windows 10 or the Xbox One. This is possible up to two weeks after purchase, provided the game has not been played for more than two hours.

Xbox users who have access to the alpha portion of the Insiders Program have already been given the feature. This is reported by Ars Technica and users on Reddit, among others. Microsoft is calling the feature “Self-Service Refunds” and is going to roll it out for the Windows App Store and Xbox Store. It is not yet known when all users will be given the option.

To request a refund, customers must go to their Microsoft account page. An option to request a refund will appear in the history of orders made. A refund can be requested if the relevant game or program has been used with all accounts for a maximum of two hours. Valve already introduced the option to request money back after purchasing a game on Steam in 2015. That company applies the same conditions.
