WSJ: iPhone XR successor gets LCD again, but dual camera
According to the generally well-informed newspaper The Wall Street Journal, Apple will again this year three iPhones on the market: two with OLED screen and one with LCD. For next year, the company is considering introducing three iPhones with an OLED screen.
The successor to the iPhone XR will receive an LCD again, according to the newspaper, but the model does make the switch from a single camera on the back to a dual camera. The iPhone XS again gets an OLED screen and dual camera, while the iPhone XS Max gets a triple camera.
The latter information corresponds to the renders that appeared this week of the possible design of the iPhone XS Max successor. They showed a protruding square on the back of the iPhone, in which three cameras were incorporated. These should, among other things, provide 3D sensing and improved optical zoom.
Also striking in the message from the WSJ is that Apple may not provide 3D Touch support for the upcoming iPhones. In the current lineup, that support is only missing from the cheapest model, the iPhone XR.
