Writer The Last Jedi is working on a new Star Wars trilogy

Disney has announced that a fourth Star Wars trilogy will be released following the release of the current series of films. Its author is Rian Johnson, who also wrote The Last Jedi. It is still unknown when the films will be released or what they will be about.

The new trilogy is separate from the Skywalkers in the lead roles, Disney notes. Instead, the upcoming Star Wars trilogy will boldly go where no man has gone before will focus on a “corner of the Star Wars universe” that has never been explored and the trilogy will also feature new characters.

Disney seems to want to keep up the pace, though. George Lucas took 27 years to release six films, but The Last Jedi will be the third film in three years in December, after The Force Awakens and Rogue One. The Last Jedi is the second installment in a new Skywalker trilogy after The Force Awakens.
